On page 7 of Gene Odom’s 2002 book; “Lynyrd Skynyrd: Remembering the Free Birds of Southern Rock” --- Odom who claims that on October 20th, 1977  --- he was then a personal security guard for the band’s lead singer Ronnie Van Zant --- and passenger on board the chartered aircraft in which Van Zant, guitarist Gaines and his sister Cassie and personal manager Dean Kilpatrick were all killed in a crash at Gillsburg, Mississippi --- the only reference to Van Zant on the plane is; “…there lay Ronnie on the floor, soothed into sleep by a sedative…”

 

How come Odom never mentions Van Zant’s boarding of the flight which left Greenville, South Carolina for Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 20, 1977, or anything about Van Zant’s last moments allive ???

 

Also conspicuously absent from the account in Odom’s 2002 book, are any references to ‘Skynyrd’ band members Steve & Cassie Gaines, or any to personal manager Dean Kilpatrick either, as well.

 

The question is were the already dead bodies of ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines and personal manager Dean Kilpatrick --- placed on board the rock band’s chartered Convair 240 tour plane prior to it’s crash at Gillsburg, Mississippi on October 20, 1977 ?

 

 

How come the National Transportation Safety Board’s, the ‘NTSB’s report on the October 20, 1977 crash, at Gillsburg, Mississippi, that reportedly killed three members of the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ cites the exact time of the crash --- but oddly enough fails to include the plane’s time of departure from Greenville, South Carolina --- the flight’s point of origin ? 

 

Why was ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ lead singer-lyicist Ronnie Van Zant’s grave stone stolen from his gravesite in Jacksonville in June 1982?

This newspaper article is on the October 20, 1977 plane crash that reportedly killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant --- along with two of the newest members of the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ Rock Band in Some Backwoods of Southwestern Mississippi __ miles north of New Orleans --- during what is described here as an emergency landing made into a heavily wooded thicket.

 

This article gives ‘Skynyrd’ Band Sound technician Ken Petden as saying that he was almost certain that the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ Southern Rock Band was no more --- as two of the  band members who reportedly died in the October 1977 plane crash were lead-singer Ronnie Van Zant & Guitarist

Vocalist Steve Gaines, who wrote all the words to all of the songs for ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’

 

Also Cites Sound Tech Petden’s account of having seen as six-foot flame shoot out of the exhaust cowling on one the prop-engines

NY Times 10 –22 – 77 Page 9 cites report by Ken Petden Sound Tech --- sez he saw a six-foot flame shoot out of one of the Convair 240’s two prop-engines  --- “…during the flight from Miami to Greenville…”

 

The problem being with Crash survivor & Sound Technician Petden’s account here --- is that The ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ Band left Miami after their show there on October 15^th,  1977  --- Performed in Saint Petersburg on the 16^th  --- and at Lakeland, Florida on the 18^{th  ---}    Whereby the ‘Skynyrd’ Rock Band tour  plane took-off from Lakeland --- And Flew to Greenville, South Carolina on October 19, 1977 for a show they had there that very night. --- So the plane couldn’t have left Miami for Greenville, South Carolina or could it ?

 

 

 

This is of possibly no significance great or small ---  because of the fact that ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ tour plane crash survivor Ken Petden may have either or made a slip of the tongue --- so what everybody does so from time to time.

 

However another possibility is --- that ‘crash-survivor’ Ken Petden had possibly been trying to say in a covert, and or cryptic by way of his statements which appeared in the October 22, 1977 New York Times --- was that the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ Band tour plane --- that reportedly crashed near New Orleans October 20, 1977 --- had something to do with Miami.

 

Officially --- the twin-prop Convair 240 leased by ‘Lynyrd Skynnyrd’ Rock-Band left an Airport in Greenville, South Carolina at October 20, 1977 --- bound for Baton Rouge, Lousiana --- but later crashed at “1852” Hundred-Hours ( 6:52 pm I’m told ) __ miles north of New Orleans --- reportedly after the plane ran out of fuel.

 

I should also add that as of this date and time ( June 2005 ), I haven’t been able to find a time of departure for the ‘Skynyrd’ plane which reportedly left from Greenville, South Carolina on October 20, 1977 --- in any of the major newspapers or even in the synopsis of the crash report that the NTSB in Washington FAXED me.

 

The same half page-of  ambigiously & incomplete worded crash information the NTSB had FAXED me on June 3^rd , 2005 --- reports that the crash-time for the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band’s tour plane on October 20^th, 1977 thereas “1852” hundred-hours - 6:52 pm

Stage crew member / crash survivor Petden’s comments about the plane’s having left Miami --- not Greenville, South Carolina --- was it possible that Petden --- apparently to terrified to tell the whole truth --- may have been hinting that the tour plane was actually diverted to Miami --- possibly Homestead Air Force Base nearby --- where Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines & manager Kilpatrick all got it --- their bodies all loaded aboard the Convair 240 for the pre-engineered ditched of the plane in Gillsburg, Miss to cover it all up.

Page 162 has a photo of the ‘Skynyrd’ band at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium --- Jaunuary 1977 --- Gaines looks a trifle leary for some reason --- a t least to me. ---

Were this the case --- it’s a sure bet that it must have had something to do with the resentment coming off both Collins & Rossington --- Gaines presented a major threat to their positions --- as Van Zant might decide to bring yet another guitarist --- & replace one or possibly both of them and keep Wilkeson on bass, Powell on Keyboards, and maybe dump drummer Pyle --- who Van Zant had  fist fights with on occasions --- according to Pyle --- Van Zant had fist   

 

Page 198  Pyle sez that the ‘Skynyrd’ band tour plane --- chartered from L & J Leasing of Dallas, Texas  --- was overloaded a bit from some of the new equipment the band picked up in Japan

Page 139 cites the addition of  Debra Jo Billingsley from Tennessee who suggested bringing in Cassie Gaines from Oklahoma on board as a back-up vocalist --- Cassie in turn persuaded Van Zant to give her brother Steve and audition when they played Kansas City, Mo. --- as Steve Gaines resided in Seneca, Mo. At the time.

 

 

During the May 11, 1976  show K.C. Mo. --- Van Zant decided to have Steve Gaines join the band on stage --- to which Rossington objected at first – but to no avail (page 140)

 

Page 140 also reports how Rossington & Collins still had reservations about guitarist Gaines because they supposedly “hadn’t heard him well enough” --- although he just gave “a truly polished professional performance” ---

 

 more likely the two guitarists saw the writing on the wall with regard to Gaines --- and knew that he presented a threat to them because Van Zant no longer had to rely on the two start up guitarists any longer

As this took place in January 1977 --- it’s a sure bet that it was this incident which Van Zant thought about when he wrote “What’s Your Name” --- which appeared on the “Street Survivors” album released three-days before his death on October 20, 1977.

In this same photo Bob Burn’s appears front left looks out of it --- like he’s somehow being squeezed out of the band --- Rossington, front right has a look of smug bitch-like indolence on his face ---  I would assume that this photo was taken sometime prior to drummer Burn’s leaving the band just after the December 1974 European tour  --- but judging by the expression of Burn’s face ---- I would guess that the photo was taken therein Burn’s last days with the band.

Page 231 of “Marley Brant’s 2002 book, “Freebirds: The Lynyrd Skynyrd Story” states that on July 24, 2001 ‘Skynyrd’ band bass player Leon Wilkeson Visited ‘The Freebird Café’ in Jacksonville ran by Ronnie Van Zant’s widow ( Double check this) --- presumably with the same bodyguard who was to discover Wilkeson dead only 3-days later.

 

On the following day, Wednesday July 25, 2001 met with the widow of former fellow band mate Steve Gaines --- who died in the October 1977 plane crash in which lead singer Van Zant, his sister Cassie and manger Kilpatrick were also killed.

 

According to Gene Odom’s account in his 2002 book; “Lynyrd Skynyrd: Remembering The Freebirds Of Southern Rock” --- on July 27, 2001 bassist Leon Wilkeson and still on a break from the tour schedule of the second incarnation of the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band formed in 1987 --- On that morning Wilkeson decided to check into a room at the Marriot Sawgrass Hotel, at Point Vedra, near Jacksonville, Florida at about 10:00 am  --- and paid for the hotel room of his bodyguard next door as well. --- Four hours later by 2:00 pm that same afternoon, Wilkeson’s bodyguard found the ‘Skynyrd’ band bass player dead, face down on the bed in his hotel room.

 

The Photo on page 230 of Brant’s book, “Freebirds...” has a photo of Wilkeson looking somewhat paranoid --- though well composed, which seems account for Wilkeson’s apparent desire or rather his, Wilkeson’s apparent need to keep a bodyguard near him at all times.

 

This brings to mind the question --- how many southern rock band bass guitar players keep a bodyguard with them at all times --- especially at the age of 49 ?

Drive drummer Burns mad – in order to install Pyle as drummer in his place --- it’s possible that the crash was rigged --- very possibly with a corpse sometime in in early 1973 --- this  “…incident affected him [Burns] a great deal’.”    The crash took place on the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville. 

 

 

Page 103 cites Powell’s car crash --- presumably sometime around that of Burn’s in early 1973 --- also took place in Jacksonville --- therein which the wife of a Florida State Trooper was critically injured and almost killed.

The one thing that really got the wheels in my head turning from that song written by ‘Skynyrd’ rock band singer Van Zant’s song, “What’s Your Name ?” was the line “Yes it’s Eight O’clock in Boise Idaho…”  --- and how my fiancé , most apparently and intentionally lied to me about the location of Pocatello, Idaho --- then two years earlier --- back in in July of 1975,  by telling me that Pocatello was located about 30 miles outside of  Boise, Idaho --- instead of clear across the state near Idaho Falls & Jackson, Wyoming where her cousin lived--- as described in Chapter 19. of  “1979”.

about how things sometimes have a funny smell --- like when in “Hamlet”  Shakespeare wrote; --- “There is something rotten in the state of Denmark” and people should be wary and cautious.

For The Newer Re-formed, Post ‘77 Plane Crash ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ Band --- Leon Wilkeson Had Just Taken “A Break” From Band’s Concert Tour In July 2001 --- Only To Turn-up All Alone &Dead At The Sawgrass-Marriot Resort Hotel In Florida on July 27, 2001 ? --- Reportedly of Natural Causes At Age 49 & In Good Health By Some Reports.

 

 

 

Page 231 of “Marley Brant’s 2002 book, “Freebirds: The Lynyrd Skynyrd Story” states that on July 24, 2001 ‘Skynyrd’ band bass player Leon Wilkeson Visited ‘The Freebird Café’ in Jacksonville ran by Ronnie Van Zant’s widow ( Double check this) --- presumably with the same bodyguard who was to discover Wilkeson dead only 3-days later.

 

On the following day, Wednesday July 25, 2001 met with the widow of former fellow band mate Steve Gaines --- who died in the October 1977 plane crash in which lead singer Van Zant, his sister Cassie and manger Kilpatrick were also killed.

 

According to Gene Odom’s account in his 2002 book; “Lynyrd Skynyrd: Remembering The Freebirds Of Southern Rock” --- on July 27, 2001 bassist Leon Wilkeson and still on a break from the tour schedule of the second incarnation of the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band formed in 1987 --- On that morning Wilkeson decided to check into a room at the Marriot Sawgrass Hotel, at Point Vedra, near Jacksonville, Florida at about 10:00 am  --- and paid for the hotel room of his bodyguard next door as well. --- Four hours later by 2:00 pm that same afternoon, Wilkeson’s bodyguard found the ‘Skynyrd’ band bass player dead, face down on the bed in his hotel room.

 

The Photo on page 230 of Brant’s book, “Freebirds...” has a photo of Wilkeson looking somewhat paranoid --- though well composed, which seems account for Wilkeson’s apparent desire or rather his, Wilkeson’s apparent need to keep a bodyguard near him at all times.

 

This brings to mind the question --- how many southern rock band bass guitar players keep a bodyguard with them at all times --- especially at the age of 49 ?  

 

Was Wilkeson paranoid that those same forces that apparently murdered his former fellow ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band members back in October 1977 --- might feel compelled to kill him as well ?

This is a noteworthy fact indeed --- whereas the very motive I contend that ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ rock band lead singer, leader & somg lyricist Van Zant was actually kidnapped, interrogated & murdered as the result the song “What’s Your Name” --- he wrote for the “Street Survivors” album released on October 17, 1977 --- only three days before his reported death along with that of fellow band member, song lyricist Steve Gaines & His sister Back-up singer Cassie Gaines.

 

To this I would also add that the photo which appears in the July 10, 1978 edition of the L.A. Times part IV page 10; captioned by Times Staff writer Dennis Hunt  as “Skynyrd Survivors: New Band”

Is an article on how Collins & Rossington will form a new rock band soon --- this during an interview at which both Collins & Rossington are present  in L.A. at the Universal City restaurant.

 

This article is interesting in that Times reporter Hunt only quotes then former ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band guitarist Gary Rossington and not one word is quoted from his fellow ‘Skynyhrd’ band survivor Allen Collins.

 

The photo accompanying the article is captioned; “CONVALESCING

---  Allen Collins left, and Gary Rossington, survivors Lynyrd Skynyrd crash. “ --- was taken by Marianna Diamos --- Shows new facial expressions worn by both Allen Collins and Gary Rossington, as Powell looks on with an expression of genuinely pained regret mixed in with some disgust and resignation at not being able to speak what’s on his mind. --- This as Rossington glances sideways towards Collins therein a photo in which Rossington doesn’t look jealous, petulant or is wearing that phony  ‘put-on’ smile of his.

 

He Rossington looks elated at being in control of what was left of the surviving members of the ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band, but also as if he has to keep a close watch on his then former and future fellow band mate   

Allen Collins.  

 

A photograph in one of the unnumbered pages of photos  between pages 152 & 153 of Odom’s “Lyn. Skn.: Remem. The Freebirds…” is one of both guitarist Collins and Rossington jamming on stage and is captioned  “1N 1980, ALLEN AND GARY FORMED THE ROSSINBGTON-COLLINS BAND AND HIT No. 13 WITH THEIR ALBUM  “ANYTIME, ANYPLACE, ANYWHERE” ONE YEAR AND A SECOND LACKLUSTER SECOND ALBUM LATER, THE LONGTIME FRIENDS FEUDED AND DISBANDED  “  

 

In this photo, presumably taken from a 1980 ‘Rossington-Collins’ concert in 1980 --- Collins looks as though he’s essentially wearing the same expression on his face --- as that of the photo Collins and Rossington which appeared in the July 10^th, 1978 Los Angeles Times

--- however the look in Collins eyes seem to bespeak of the mistrust and dislike he guitarist Allen Collins had for his partner --- Gary Rossington of the then 1980 “Rossington-Collins” band.

 

 

 

 

In the photo which appeared in the July 1978 L.A. Times --- Collins was wearing a dark tee-shirt with some white lettering on it.

In this 1980 photo of the two then former ‘Skynyrd’ band guitarist Collin’s is wearing a dark tee-shirt with white letters reading

“Who’s Rossington ?” --- This combined with the look of mistrust therein Collins eyes as he stands next to Gary Rossington --- conveys the message to me that --- Collins is paranoid of Rossington and the message on Collin’s shirt “Who’s Rossington?” is perhaps Collins way of saying;  “I don’t know who the fuck this Rossington dude is.”

 

The expression on Gary Rossington’s face looks dark, brooding and sullen. --- It appears that Rossington had put on a bit of weight since 1978 --- here wearing a hat --- and looking like he’s lost somehow.

 

Rossington’s photo here is in sharp contrast to those with the old ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band of the 1970’s therein which Rossington always seems to look like he’s either jealous of band leader Ronnie Van Zant or and or is presently scheming some plot to take over the band.

 

This 1980 photo best illustrates just how far the two fellow band-mates in ‘Rossington-Collins’ had split apart since October 1977 just before the Mississippi planbe crash that reportedly killed then fellow ‘Lynyrd Skynyrd’ band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve & Cassie Gaines and personal manger Dean Kilpatrick.

 

 

Page 173 of Brant’s “Freebirds…” reports that Allen Collins wife ---

Kathy Johns-Collins had reportedly died of a massive hemorrhage whilst attending a movie with the couple’s two daughters

 

Page 173 ALSO reports that --- that the ‘Rossington-Collins’ band had  postponed it’s plans for a concert tour set for later in 1980 – as the result of Gary Rossington reportedly  having broken his foot. 

///////////////////// I suspect that the broken foot thing may have been just a ruse to give Rossington some space away from Collins whose wife had just died --- most likely because Rossington knew the reason that Collins wife Kathy had been murdered.  

 

 

 

Additional information sources --- in the form of newspaper obituary notices report that Kathy Johns-Collins died in a Clay County Hospital on September 19, 1980 --- but give no cause of death.

 

Other reports state that Kathy Collins died as the result of hemorrhaging caused as the result of a miscarriage – as she was reportedly pregnant at the time.

 

I suspect that Kathy Collins death was caused as the result of severe physical trauma, most likely from some kind of beating and that regardless as to whether or not she was even pregnant --- this was used as a cover-story to obscure the truth.

 

I suspect that at the time of her death in September 1980 --- Kathy Collins may have freaked when she found out that Dale Krantz was having simultaneous affairs with both Gary Rossington and her husband Allen Collins --- and mostg likely threatened to spill what she knew about the phony plane crash used to cover-up the kidnapping, interrogation and murders of the Ronnie Van Zant and two other band members in October 1977. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This apparent jump in additional bodyweight for Rossington is possibly indicative of Rossington’s having quit using cocaine and or possibly other drugs as well.

Apparent Cryptic ‘Double Entendres’ from The ‘Skynyrd’ band’s “Street Survivors” album released just 3-days before The Reported October 20, 1977 Plane Crash Killing --- The Band’s only Two Song Lyricists --- Van Zant & Gaines

 

The best Example being “Street Survivors” biggest hit song ---

“What’s Your Name?” --- with “Yes it’s eight-o’clock in Boise Idaho” --- Which when viewed in the entirety of my circumstances & events in October 1977 --- apparently refers to the date of my birth in Kentucky, March 8, 1953

 

            The date March 8 --- was to take on some rather interesting significance in the then near future therewith the “Towards The Prevention of Assassination”  conference in Washington D.C. --- on March 8, 1981 --- Just prior to the March

30, 1981 assassination attempt on President Reagan in D.C. as well as covered in Chapter 101. of “1979”.   

 

Chapter 104. of “1979” --- is perhaps an even better example and is entitled:

 

Cryptic-Psychotic Psy-Op’s Warfare Involving My Birth date March 8, 1 9 5 3 ---- Which Becomes March 5, 1 9 8 3, The Date of the Car Crash Deaths Of Agent Robinson, & Two Other Secret Service Agents, by Transposing the 8 & 5 found in both dates.

 

Chapter 109. is yet another example where the date of my birth is used in a most unfriendly & cryptically evil context --- it is entitled:

 

“ Black hawks Down: .

 The reported mid-air collision of two U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopters from the Army’s 101^st Airborne stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky on March 8, 1988, reportedly killing 17 U.S. Army personnel;

 

A U.S. Army hospital at Fort Campbell Kentucky was my birth place on March 8, 1953;

 

 March 8, 1988, my 35^th  birthday & “Super Tuesday” for major U.S. Presidential Primaries;

 

This sad turn of events on my 35^th birthday and having taken place thereat the very place I was born, an apparent CIA-military Psy-Ops psychological warfare-terrorism operation.   

 

The lead song title from “Street Survivors” --- “What’s Your Name?” --- with words by Ronnie Van Zant --- was and thereby is I suspect a most apparent reference to my then fiancé in 1975-76 --- Karen Cushman and her use of the name ‘Brooke West’ --- an apparent play on my fine old southern last name Westbrook --- used by her during her covert porno movie making days of the mid-1970’s. --- Van Zant was  reportedly killed as the result of the October 20, 1977 chartered plane-crash near Gillsburg, Mississippi.

 

The one thing that really got the wheels in my head turning from that song written by ‘Skynyrd’ rock band singer Van Zant’s song, “What’s Your Name ?” was the line “Yes it’s Eight O’clock in Boise Idaho…”  --- and how my fiancé , most apparently and intentionally lied to me about the location of Pocatello, Idaho --- then two years earlier --- back in in July of 1975,  by telling me that Pocatello was located about 30 miles outside of  Boise, Idaho --- instead of clear across the state near Idaho Falls & Jackson, Wyoming where her cousin lived--- as described in Chapter 19. of  “1979”. 

 

Idaho falls then in 1975 future site of the upcoming August 28^th, 1978 motel mirror death threat against President Jimmy Carter 

 

Another song from “Street Survivors” --- “I know a little (and baby I can guess the rest.)” --- Was written entirely by the then latest addition to the ‘Skynyrd’ band --- guitarist Steve Gaines --- is in my estimation in light of all of the factual allegations and irrefutable evidence presented in chapter 35. of “1979” --- is perhaps a kind  subtly cryptic suggestion --- meant to spur my thinking about those other covert and hidden agenda’s involved in my then wife’s secret-double life as --- ‘Brooke West’

--- and along these lines how I got hip to some girlfriend’s satanic ritual games back on Easter Weekend 1975 in San Francisco --- as described in the synopsis to Chapter 16. of “1979”, entitled:

‘Skynyrd’ rock-band guitarist Gaines may have also been referring to those extremely revealing circumstances & events of July 1975 --- in which I suddenly found myself thrust into as described in Chapter 20. of “1979” entitled;

Yet another song from the “Street Survivors” album released in mid-October 1977

In which lead singer Van Zant wrote the words to was; “That Smell” --- whereas here again the words; “…oooooh that smell, that smell that’s all around you…” wasn’t really completely all about ‘Skynyrd’ band member Gary Rossington’s September 1976 car crash although that was apparently part it  --- as much as it was

about how things sometimes have a funny smell --- like when in “Hamlet”  Shakespeare wrote; --- “There is something rotten in the state of Denmark” and people should be wary and cautious.

 

Being that my father was of old Dutch-Anglo descent running back to 1609 in Virginia --- and the fact that my mother was half Japanese and half Danish ---

And the fact that by 1977 I had acquired a taste for Shakespeare’s historical and political tragedies back in the 1960’s when I was in high school --- I suppose that it was just these very factors which made me think of that line; “…there’s something rotten in the state of Denmark…” when I heard Van Zant’s lyrics “…oooooh that smell…” off of the “Street Survivors” album --- and oh right prophetically right ‘Skynyrd’ band song-writer / singer Ronnie Van Zant was indeed.
